Having seen rave reviews, I expected this place to be spectacular. I wasn’t dazzled but it was good. I had house special crispy chow mein, all the meats were well cooked, as were the prawns and the sauce was very delicately but deliciously flavoured but it was lacking variety, there was no squid, no belly pork, no roast duck, no fish cake or fish balls and there were no mushrooms. Where I go in Manchester, I’m used to the very best, this didn’t quite match up. My partner had roast duck with pineapple, that was delicious. We shared salt and chilli spare ribs and they were very tasty, not aggressively salty, lots of onions and veggies served with it.

The staff were great, very attentive and polite. Absolutely brilliant service. I would go back.

Restaurant looks nice, but food is absolutely awful, soggy chips, lack of flavour, chicken curry with rice was very bland, pork ribs in sauce just standard! The only thing that was nice was the chicken balls. Definitely won’t be going here again

Food was good, better than the average Chinese that’s for sure. The service was superb, we were booked for 6pm but some of our party arrived late, but they were totally fine with it not rushing us but telling us to take our time. I would highly recommend the Blue Orchid, good food, great service.

This family run restaurant is a hidden gem. We always treat ourselves to quiet birthday dinner here and it never disappoints. Top tip book your table in advance as it is bustling especially on a Friday and Saturday night.

Recently had friend’s 60th birthday dinner here upon another friend’s recommendation. We had a wonderful time, there was 4 of us and the place was fully booked.

The portions were decent size and we ordered 4-portion sharing platter of appetiser, and a couple mains (crispy duck pancakes, mix vegetables, fried rice, steamed sea bass and beef with oyster sauce). We shared the mains between us and we were all satisfied and full at the end of the meal that we didn’t have room for dessert. The sesame prawn toasts and spicy shredded beef were amazing.

Would definitely recommend this place. Hands down the best Chinese restaurant I’ve ever been to in a long time, and will definitely be coming back!

Only downside is there isn’t any parking near the place, the closest local car parks were about 7 minutes walk (Romford Brewery or Liberty Mall).
